Glardeya Diggs is from Millsburg, a neighboring township of Harrisburg. I attended and graduated from the Lott Carey Baptist Mission located in Brewerville, Liberia. In 1973, I was employed by the Finance Ministry as a statisticial clerk in the Revenue Department.
In 1979 I migrated to the United States and resided in Cleveland Ohio, where I attended Dyke College, earning a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. After residing in Ohio for six years, I moved to Georgia where I have resided since. My area of expertise is the Hospitality Industry. I acquired a Master of Public Administration with emphasis in Nonprofit. I worked for the YUM BRAND for fifteen years as a Restaurant Manager. In 2004, I was employed in the Public Sector by Gwinnett County Public Schools as a Food Nutrition Manager. I worked with elementary school students for the entire eighteen years I was in the school system. My decision to become a board member of HCUD is based on the belief that helping and supporting ideas that benefit the community is essential for success. For many years I worked as a volunteer with Hosea Williams Organization, feeding the hungry and homeless in Atlanta.
I am presently happily retired and look forward every spring to making a garden of Liberian vegetables; potato greens, platto, cassava leaf, fever leaf, etc. I am also a proud owner of several layers.
